With roots that trace back for three generations, Sonic is Nottingham’s traditional independent barbers, steeped in craft, quality and friendly chat. In a welcoming atmosphere, we put skill and experience into every individual haircut and shave, using authentic barbering techniques handed down over decades.

Our story
Our founder, Karwan, has barbering in his blood. Back in the sixties – in a world of mop-tops and beatniks – his grandad was defiantly delivering classic cuts with old-school personal service. Karwan saw that ethos at work, as the secrets of barbering were passed down through the family over the years. As a kid, he grew up watching his dad create bespoke cuts with dedication and attention to detail. It’s what gave Karwan the passion for perfection that’s the spirit of Sonic to this day.
Times have changed, but we’re still the same traditional barbers at heart. So come in, take a seat and experience the difference that proper, precision barbering can make.

I have been dong this job for the last 20 years and i loved every minutes of it.
I’m Daniyal, I’ve been cutting hair for six years, with a bit of teaching along the way. I enjoy working across all styles, especially longer scissor cuts and intricate clipper work. I’m obsessive about the details, but it all starts with listening and finding what works for you.
I’m a proud supporter of Pride, and I want everyone who sits in my chair to feel welcome and comfortable and to be able to be themselves.
Outside the shop, I’m into music, science and martial arts, and I’m a drummer too. Expect a bit of banter, a good conversation and a welcoming chair. My aim is simple: you leave looking sharp, feeling confident and still completely yourself.
I’m Nicolina! I’ve been barbering and hairdressing for many years now, and I still love the variety that comes with it. From cutting, colouring and styling to curly hair, gents perms, traditional barbering and wet shaves, I enjoy a bit of everything!
One of my favourite things about what I do is meeting people from all walks of life, getting to know them and having a good chat along the way. I’m a big supporter of Pride, and it’s important to me that everyone feels welcome, comfortable and free to be themselves in my chair.
Whether you know exactly what you want or need a little help deciding, I’m always happy to listen, offer some advice and find something that works for you.
Outside of work, I love music and getting out to gigs, and swimming. I’ve also developed a bit of a soft spot for classic cars, thanks to Our Kid!
